Mary Catherine Bloodworth, a financial professional with Capstone Financial, leads her life by giving back and serving others. For the last six years, she has volunteered with Solomon’s Temple in Atlanta, a residential facility for homeless women and their children.
More than 40 percent of Atlanta’s homeless population is comprised of women and children, and according to the National Center on Family Homelessness, more than 58,000 children in Georgia are homeless.
Solomon’s Temple employs a wraparound approach, using advocacy, training, service bundling, and one-on-one family coaching to cultivate productive attitudes and behaviors while stabilizing lives. Bloodworth serves as the organization’s development committee chair, helping to raise money to support the housing and programs families in transition need to find peace and stability for a brighter future.
“I believe that we are here to serve others and help when people need us,” said Bloodworth. “I live my life that way and hope that my passion will inspire others to help those experiencing difficult times.”
Bloodworth’s service earned Solomon’s Temple Foundation a $10,000 donation from the MassMutual Foundation as part of its 2023 Community Service Awards program. The organization will use the funds to expand their services for the homeless women and children of Atlanta.
Each year, the MassMutual Foundation awards grants — ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 — to help nonprofit organizations with which MassMutual financial professionals are involved. You can read more about the program here.
